GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A woman was killed and two others were hospitalized after getting shot in Grand Rapids in the early hours of Sunday.
The shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. outside of a home in the 300 block of Brown Street near Madison Avenue SE, according to the Grand Rapids Police Department.
Shanetta Latrice Franklin, 26, was shot and killed. Family and friends said she has three children.
"Now her kids ain't even got their mama no more, and I ain't even got my twin sister no more," Franklin's sister Lanetta said. "You all killed my sister for nothing."
The two other victims, who have not yet been identified, were shot in their legs and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Witnesses told officers that they heard a number of shots.
No suspects have been identified in the incident and a motive for the shooting is unknown.
"Whatever was going on, she didn't deserve that. She didn't deserve to die. None of them people that got shot deserved it," Franklin's friend Kenise Clay said.
Sunday night, dozens of people gathered for about three hours near where Franklin was killed. They lit candles and released balloons. They recalled Franklin as fun, loving and a good mother.
Friends and family pleaded with anyone who has information to call authorities.
"But if anybody got any information on what happened to my sister, please come front with it, 'cause we greatly appreciate it," Franklin's sister said.
"It's got to be burning you inside to know that you killed an innocent person," Clay said. "Turn yourself in. Give this family some type of peace some type of something. Let them know. I mean, you got to have a heart. You guys killed an innocent mother of three. It's just sad."
Anyone with more information is asked to call the GRPD at 616.456.3604 or the Silent Observer at 616.774.2345.
