GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - The mayors of two local cities hung out Tuesday afternoon at a pub to celebrate their cities' accomplishments in a recent national poll.
Grand Rapids was voted No. 1 in Examiner.com's BeerCity USA poll with more than 50 percent of the total vote, and more than 11,000 votes ahead of second-place finisher Kalamazoo.
So Grand Rapids Mayor George Heartwell invited Kalamazoo Mayor Bobby Hopewell to toast the honors and recognize July as Michigan Craft Beer Month.
Hopewell bought Heartwell a beer at Founders Brewing Co. and the two took a tour of the production facility.
The mayors have jointly decided to call the area BeerRegion USA.
