THORNAPPLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A Grand Rapids man is being charged with a drunk driving felony for allegedly causing a five-vehicle crash south of Middleville.
Three people were hospitalized following the crash, which happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday on M-37 near Yankee Springs Road.
On Monday, 19-year-old Juan Daniel Dominguez-Garcia of Grand Rapids was charged with driving while drunk causing serious injury. He faces a possible five years in prison.
All five of the cars involved in the crash had just left a wedding reception at the Barry County Expo Center.
Deputies said two women and one man were transported to area hospitals for treatment. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
It's not clear yet how the crash or series of crashes happened. The Barry County Sheriff's Department Monday said accident reconstruction experts were still working on their report.
Deputies told 24 Hour News 8 Sunday that alcohol and speed appeared to be factors in the crash.
There are no serious offenses on Dominguez-Garcia's driving record. He was pulled over in Grand Rapids last year for disobeying the speed limit and found not to have a valid driver's license with him, according to Secretary of State records.
