HASTINGS, Mich. (WOOD) - A Barry County woman faces criminal charges after allegedly making up a story that she was attacked by a man with a knife.
Samantha Ann Minehart, 26, was arrested Wednesday for false report of a felony.
On May 22, she told police she was assaulted by a man with a knife, who was hiding in a barn near her house. She said she struggled with the man and was cut on her neck and stomach and then stabbed. She said she fired two shots at the man when he ran off.
The Barry County Sheriff's Office, Michigan State Police and Nashville Police Department searched the area, but found nothing.
Minehart later admitted she made up the attacked and that her injuries were self-inflicted.
