BARRY, Mich. (WOOD) - Several fire departments worked Saturday afternoon to contain a grass fire that consumed at least 30 acres of land in Barry County.
Authorities told 24 Hour News 8 they received calls around 2:30 p.m. for the scene along Hickory Road near Tamarack Lake, south of the Yankee Springs State Recreation Area.
Authorities said no residential houses were hit by the spreading flames.
Hickory Corners Fire Department was the command fire agency battling the fire. Johnstown Township, Delton, Bedford, and Ross Township fire departments assisted in the firefight, as well as a crew with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
