OTSEGO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A woman died after being struck by a car in Otsego Township Friday afternoon.
According to a news release, a witness called police at around 12 p.m. reporting a pedestrian hit by a car in the 600 block of Lincoln Road.
When officers arrived on scene, they found 84-year-old Francis Wood unconscious in the roadway. Police said she was hit by a car driven by a 79-year-old man.
Witnesses told police that Wood was walking on the eastbound shoulder of the roadway, then started crossing the road and into the path of the car.
The driver of the car along with other witnesses stopped to help the woman. Wood was transported to a hospital where she later died.
The crash remains under investigation.

The passenger in a pickup truck that slid off U.S. 31 and rolled over told 24 Hour News 8 that watching the video of the crash is "heart-wrenching."
