ALLEGAN, Mich. (WOOD) - A Southwest Michigan high school basketball coach and his cousin have both been charged with having sex with a 14-year-old girl.
Adrian Ledesma, 23, a coach for Bloomingdale High School's boys' junior varsity basketball team, and his cousin, 24-year-old Jaime Ledesma II, were arraigned Thursday in Allegan County District Court.
On June 18, Michigan State Police troopers took a report about alleged criminal sexual conduct between an adult and the 14-year-old girl.
The report was made by the girl's parents after they found inappropriate text messages on their daughter's cellphone, police said.
During their investigation, police learned that the girl had been communicating with Adrian Ledesma, who she had met while she was attending Bloomingdale High School where he was coaching, police said.
Police also learned that there was a second person who was having an alleged inappropriate relationship with the teen: Adrian Ledesma's cousin, Jaime Ledesma II.
None of the encounters between either of the men and the girl occurred at Bloomingdale High School, police said.
Adrian Ledesma was charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Jamie Ledesma II was charged with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.
