Walker, Mich. (WOOD) - Saturday marks the one year anniversary of the death of Walker Police Officer Trevor Slot who was killed in the line of duty.
His friends, family and colleagues came together near the Walker Police Department Saturday morning for a ceremony in his honor.
The group dedicated a tree near the Police Department, as well as part of Remembrance Road, which will soon bear his name. Remembrance Road between Wilson and Kinney avenues will be renamed in honor of Slot .
Slot spent nine years with the Walker Police Department before he was killed trying to stop two criminals who led authorities on a high speed chase. Slot was laying spike strips down to try and blow out the pair's tires, when he was run over by the car they were driving.
