GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) -- Police are investigating the death of a man who was apparently run over in Grand Rapids' Creston neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.

It happened around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Lafayette Avenue NE and Travis Street, where a stretch of road was blocked off with crime scene tape for a few hours.

A police source described the case to 24 Hour News 8 as a domestic situation. The source said an acquaintance ran over the victim with a vehicle.

The Grand Rapids Police Department said the 30-year-old victim died at the scene. His name has not been released pending notification of his family.

GRPD said the vehicle that was involved and its driver were still at the scene when they arrived. The driver was detained and the vehicle taken in as evidence. Witnesses were being interviewed Tuesday afternoon.

An autopsy will be performed Wednesday.

Anyone with information about what happened is asked to call GRPD at 616.456.3400 or Silent Observer at 616.774.2345.
