GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - The 10 lowest-performing schools in the Grand Rapids public school system were the priority of the Board of Education Monday.
Superintendent Teresa Weatherall Neal said these schools should not be confused with a list of schools that will eventually close, but these need attention now.
The 10 schools include seven elementary schools:
- Campau Park
- Campus Elementary
- Kent Hills
- Mulick Park
- Shawnee Park
Two middle schools -- Alger and Westwood -- and Union High School round out the list.
Neal said she understands people have a love for their school, but officials need to make a decision based on what the district needs.
A decision on which schools will close will be made by next spring.
About a dozen people were displaced.
One person was arrested after a threatening comment resulted in a school district briefly locking down its schools Friday morning.
It was a crazy scene during an attempted robbery inside a Family Fare in Ottawa County early Friday.
