24 Hour News 8 web staff - HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) -- An Ottawa County woman is in critical condition after a crash involving her car and a semi-truck.
The crash happened around 8:10 a.m. Thursday at 120th Avenue and New Holland Street in Holland Township.
The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office says 53-year-old Heather Dewind of West Olive stopped for the stop sign at the intersection but then continued on, driving into the path of a semi-truck carrying sawdust.
The crash sent both vehicles off the road, where they hit a tree. Authorities said Dewind's Volvo was wrapped around the front of the semi-truck.
Firefighters had to free Dewind from her car. Rescuers say she was semi-conscious and talking when she was taken to a hospital.
The truck driver, a 61-year-old man from Coopersville, was not injured in the crash.
