GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - It's cheaper to fly out of Grand Rapids now than it was in 2008, according to the Regional Air Alliance of West Michigan.
That group, which helped bring low-cost air carriers like AirTran to Ford International Airport, said the average fare out of Grand Rapids during the first quarter of the year was $437. That's down from the all-time high of $508 - a 14% drop - set in 2008.
Nationally, US domestic air fare averaged $375 in the first quarter of the year.
The Regional Air Alliance is a non-profit group chaired by Dick DeVos.
