GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - They've been around since 1865 but became a really big hit in the 1950's and '60's, and now they're growing in popularity again! We're talking about the Hula-Hoop and how this toy turned aerobic activity is bringing generations together for some fun. Our Grandma on the Go gives it a whirl with her six year old grandson Case in a Youth Hoop class with Audacious Hoops .
You can get in on their classes and get moving together. Did you know that hula-hooping can burn as many calories per minute as step aerobics, boot camp or brisk walking? Plus it tones the abs, your back, arms and legs and improves balance and flexibility. There are a variety of classes to choose from, some just for kids, some for fitness and some more advanced hoop dance lessons. You can also contact them for one on one instruction and for entertainment for parties or events.
It's a great way to stay active together!
