GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (WOOD) - Check out this special story about the strength and determination of a teenager who is wise beyond her years. Katharine was born with minor cerebral palsy and underwent a major surgery to help improve her life. Femoral rotational osteotomy surgery means the doctors had to cut her femur, rotate it, and secure it with a metal rod that goes from her hip to the base of my knee. They fixed some muscles in her calf, and reconstructed her foot with cadaver bone. With the expertise and support from Mary Free Bed , this young lady is learning to walk again after the huge surgery she underwent because of her cerebral palsy.
