LOS ANGELES - The Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals will face off at Super Bowl XLIII this Sunday. But off the field, there will be another all-too-important battle being waged that day.
Which commercials will be the most revered? Most remembered? Most repulsive?
This year Super Bowl watchers will have a unique opportunity, courtesy of MediaCurves.com , to vote on which of this Sunday's 50 ads is their favorite. Results will be released on Monday morning, and users will be able to watch all of the commercials and see how they ranked with viewers.
Want to Help Pick SB XLIII's Top Ad?
You can join the panel of voters by registering on MediaCurves.com . After the first ad runs on Sunday, registrants will receive an e-mail asking them to view and vote on the game's top commercial. Respondents will have up to three hours after the game ends to participate in the survey.
Among the ads to look forward to: A 1-second ad from Miller Brewing and an envelope-pushing ad from GoDaddy.com.
Glenn Kessler, president and CEO of HCD Research who is behind Mediacurves.com, said with the economic crisis this year, people may have a different attitude toward the ads. To test this, the company is comparing response to this year's ads with last year's.
"Most Super Bowl ads are fun, entertaining and light," Kessler said. "This year, some people hypothesize that people will be more desperate to be entertained. Others say the ads may be perceived as frivolous while times are bad."
Responders will answer questions regarding their perceptions of the ads using various parameters, including breakthrough, emotion, memorability and involvement. They will also utilize an automated response system to indicate their level of interest in quarter-second intervals as they watch an ad.
If you can't wait until Monday to see the best ads of Super Bowl 2009, here's a chance to relive the Top 3 ads from 2007 and 2008.
