(CNN) - The retirement cliché about moving south to warmer weather isn't for everyone. Salt Lake City, Utah, tops Forbes' list of "Best Places to Retire."
It's hard to avoid the snow there, though it does get plenty warm in the summer.
The list has a slightly bigger bias toward warmer climates in states like Florida, New Mexico, and Arizona.
A big factor was day-to-day economics, such as the tax burden on retirees and the cost of living.
Albuquerque, N.M., and Alexandria, La., round out the top three.
