(CNN) - The scariest part of Halloween for dentists is the cavity-causing candy. So, one Washington dentist is tricking the tooth fairy and treating troops overseas.
"I decided, as dentists, we should take the holiday back," Dr. Jared Evans of KiDDS Dental.
He is buying kids' candy to give back to the community. He pays $1 for every pound of candy kids bring into his office. He spent over $350 on kids' candy in 2008.
All of the "bought" candy goes to care packages for troops overseas.
"It's one way of letting our kids and our families know that we support them," said Dr. Evans.
