Lexington police prepare after riots

Police in Kentucky say they are evaluating how they handled the thousands of rowdy fans who swarmed the streets Saturday as they prepare for the upcoming basketball championship featuring the University of Kentucky.
Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts told The Associated Press on Sunday that officers did a good job in controlling rowdy fans, who swarmed into the streets near the University of Kentucky campus, overturning cars and lighting couches ablaze after a victory over cross-state rival Louisville in a Final Four matchup.
Roberts said there were less than 20 people arrested, no serious injuries and no serious property damage. She said nothing happened that wasn't anticipated and that police were "very pleased."
She said the department would meet Sunday afternoon to evaluate things and determine whether any adjustments are needed Monday, when the Wildcats play in the championship.
