(LIN) — It's been a long, exhausting week leading up to the March 1 sequester deadline. Not just for the congressional leaders bickering back and forth, but for everyone having to listen to the blame game.

For a look back at the jabs, name-calling and finger-pointing throughout the week, view the video player above.

While both sides went back and forth, the March 1 deadline arrived with no plan in place to avert the automatic spending cuts. Congressional leaders met at the White House Friday

Headed into the meeting, GOP congressional leaders were pessimistic about reaching any kind of deal.

"There will be no last-minute, back-room deal and absolutely no agreement to increase taxes,” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell expressed before the meeting.

President Barack Obama addressed the country after the meeting, and said that the automatic spending cuts aren't the apocalypse, but "they're just dumb."

While Obama attributes the cuts to the GOP refusing to agree to higher taxes on the wealthy, Republicans say that the main argument is cutting government spending.

Deal or no deal, both sides are showing no signs of ceasing the cattiness any time soon.
