Boiling water freezes in cold Siberia

NOVOSIBIRSK, Russia (NBC/RTV) - It's so cold in Siberia that boiling water freezes immediately when it hits the air.

The temperature in parts of Siberia is 42 degrees below zero, so cold that a pot of boiling water flung into the air turns into ice.

The mercury has dipped in some parts of Siberia to nearly 60 below.

Meteorologists said these are the coldest temperatures in more than half a century.
