(CNN) - Whether you're a first-timer or a national park fanatic, this will be a good weekend to get outside.

June 9 is National Get Outdoors Day, where many parks that normally charge an entrance fee will offer free admission.

Some state parks plan to waive their entrance fees, too.

National Get Outdoors Day is sponsored by nonprofit organizations, federal agencies, and the recreation industry.

They want to see more people trying out traditional or non-traditional types of outdoor activities.

Nationwide, more than 130 free special events are also planned for Saturday, including appearances from Smokey Bear and free fishing lessons.
