GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Meijer is recalling 68,000 bicycles that reportedly have faulty pedals.
The recall affects various models from seven bike brands sold between March and August 2012, according to the U.S. Product Safety Commission.
The CPSC said there have been 29 reports of pedals coming loose or detaching altogether during use, making a fall more likely. There have been 16 reports of minor injuries.
The recalled bikes were all assembled at Meijer by Grandville's Serv-U-Success and have Serv-U-Success assembly stickers at the bottom of the frame between the pedals or on the back facing the rear tires.
Affected brands are Huffy, Iron Horse, Mongoose, Northwoods, Pacific, Razor and Schwinn. The complete list of affected bikes is available on the Meijer website (pdf).
The items were sold at a variety of Meijer stores in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky, and cost between $60 and $300.
Bikes sold at Meijer stores in Cadillac, Gaylord, Petosky and Traverse City are not included in the recalls.
Anyone who has one of the affected bikes should return it to any Meijer store for a full refund or replacement. Customers will also receive at $10 coupon.
