ALLENDALE, Mich. (WOOD) - The Ready NOW! program guarantees three interviews to those who finish several workshops.

24 Hour News 8 tracked several of the job seekers who went through the program in early March.

Joel Westmaas of Ottawa County's Michigan Works! told 24 Hour News 8 how the event came to be.

"It started over a year ago on the lakeshore with Lakeshore Advantage, one of the developers. In talking with a lot of their manufacturing employers, they knew there was a high demand for employment that was coming off very strong, but employers were having a tough time finding the people they needed," Westmaas explained.

Westmaas said he finds the program successful -- and so do employers.

"When I say highly successful, I mean employers rated the experience very highly. They made a lot of hires. In fact, the very first one, about 50% of those who attended got job offers," Westmaas said.
