CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - The morning after a December fire ripped through a Cascade Township condominium building, firefighters on scene were replaced by Arrow Restoration.
"Asessing - and working with owners," Arrow General Manager Greg Buzalski said.
The company has been working to restore three damaged units at Forest Hills Condominiums: Drying, deodorizing, even taking down and replacing the second stories of two of the units.
This industry is one relatively unaffected by the economic downtown. Now, Arrow is expanding.
"Disaster strikes whether the economy is poor or the economy is strong," Buzalski said.
Arrow recently added two new employees at its Grand Rapids headquarters and plans to add three more. A Muskegon-area office expects to employ six people. Among the open positions: technicians, the people who work on damaged homes and businesses, taking care of fire, water and mold damage.
Arrow also is hiring estimators and the coordinators who work directly with customers.
There is a branch manager spot open as well. Buzalski said that position requires a four-year college degree.
People and communication skills are key across the board, the general manager said.
Aside from the ongoing threat of natural disaster, Buzalski says the way his company handles cases helps sustain business. But the major storms and fires throughout 2008 brought business to the company. And the largest jobs that require extensive work and reconstruction can take months to complete, including the Forest Hills job.
Workers are set to begin rebuilding the second floors of the damaged units this week.
