CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - Target is offering 5 percent off to customers who use the store's credit or debit card -- on all merchandise, all the time.
The idea is to get shoppers to use Target's Red Card, instead of another credit card. Target launched the program in all of its stores Nov. 17 after testing it in select markets.
For families that do a lot of shopping, the savings can add up -- $5 on every $100 spent. The discount doesn't apply to gift cards, prescriptions and phone service.
It's applied instantly when a customer uses the debit or charge card.
The debit card works like any other. A shopper can link it to his or her personal account, or set one up with Target, which runs its own bank.
The manager of the Cascade Target said the store receives about 10 applications per day.
