COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. (WOOD) - The West Michigan Whitecaps will be represented by three players at the 2011 Midwest League All-Star Game.

Rob Brantly, Hernan Perez and Bruce Rondon have been voted onto the Eastern Division's roster by the field managers around the league.

Brantly and Perez will be starters while Rondon will come out of the bullpen at the game on June 21 at Modern Woodmen Park in Davenport, Iowa, home of the Western Division's Quad Cities River Bandits.

Perez, 20, currently ranks fourth in the Midwest League with a .330 batting average and leads the Whitecaps with 12 doubles and 28 runs scored. The native of Venezuela has two home runs and driven in 13 runs, boasting a .379 on-base percentage through 50 games. Perez has also dazzled defensively despite making the switch from shortstop to second base, routinely turning in highlight-reel plays at second while occasionally filling in at shortstop.

Brantly, a 21-year-old catcher taken by the Detroit Tigers in the third round of the 2010 draft, is 10th in the league in hitting with a .305 batting average. He spent time earlier in the season leading the league in batting with his average soaring as high as .381 on May 7. Through the first 40 games of his year, Brantly has three home runs and 28 RBI to go along with 10 doubles and 19 runs scored. Defensively, the UC-Riverside product has thrown out 31% of the runners that have tried to steal against him.

Rondon, a hard-throwing 20-year-old from Venezuela, has gone 2-1 with a 2.33 ERA and has seven saves in eight tries through his first 19 appearances of the year. In 19.1 innings of work, Rondon has racked up 30 strikeouts and allowed four hits, holding opposing hitters to a dominant .068 batting average.
