GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Flooding along certain parts of the course forced race officials to cancel the 25K bike tour Thursday, allowing enough time to clean up before the Fifth Third River Bank Run.

The 25K bike tour was canceled by its sponsors, the Grand Rapids Bicycle Company and JAMIS.

The water is expected to recede below flood stage either Thursday or Friday. Early next week, officials said, the cities of Grand Rapids, Grandville, Walker and Wyoming will clean the course of mud and debris in time for the main event on May 14.

Race officials will keep a close eye on the rainfall and the course and make any adjustments necessary by May 9.
