GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Kenyan native Robert Letting won the men's 25K race, 24 Hour News 8 was told. His unofficial time was 1:14:56.
Janet Bowcom won the women's 25K race-- setting a new women's American record for the 25K. She had an unofficial time of 1:24:36.
Originally from Kenya, Bowcom became a U.S. citizen two years ago. She currently lives in Rome, Georgia.
Nearly 7,000 runners took part in the 25K race, and nearly 22,000 runners ran the various races in the 35th annual 5/3 River Bank Run on Saturday.

In 2011, Fernando Cabada and Molly Pritz won the 25K race.
Cabada, who lives in Boulder, won the race in 1:15:41, about a minute slower than the pace he ran when he won the race in 2006.
Pritz won the women's division in a time of 1:25:38.
A record number of more than 21,000 runners are expected to turn out for the 2012 Fifth Third River Bank Run.
