HOUSTON (AP) — The Western Conference beat the East 143-138 last night in the NBA All-Star game. Kevin Durant scored 30 points and MVP Chris Paul had 20 points and 15 assists for the West. LeBron James scored 19 points but shot only 7 of 18 after having no shooting troubles during the latter part of the season's first half. Carmelo Anthony led the East with 26 points and 12 rebounds.
WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) — Brad Marchand scored 36 seconds into the third period to lift the Boston Bruins to a 3-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets last night. Tyler Seguin and Daniel Paille also scored, and Patrice Bergeron had two assists for the Bruins. Tuukka Rask stopped 22 for Boston to earn his seventh win of the season.
FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Outfielder Shane Victorino is looking to rebound — along with the Boston Red Sox. The Flyin' Hawaiian was dealt from Philadelphia to the Los Angeles Dodgers last summer and wound up hitting only .255 with 11 homers and 39 RBIs. He became a free agent after the season and signed a $39 million, three-year contract with the Red Sox, who were coming off a last-place finish.
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — A Columbus Blue Jackets minor leaguer had a seizure after being checked into the glass — causing yesterday's game between the Springfield Falcons and Adirondack Phantoms to be suspended. Springfield left wing Wade MacLeod was taken to the hospital and the team later said in a statement that the 26-year-old was stable and alert.
BOSTON (AP) — In college men's basketball, Boston University coasted to a 68-56 victory over New Hampshire yesterday. Maurice Watson Jr. scored 13 points with 10 rebounds and Dom Morris had 13 points and eight rebounds. Boston University made 7 of 16 against New Hampshire, which was leading the league in defense against 3s.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Daniel Munoz's 3-pointer with 1 second remaining in overtime gave American University a 64-61 victory over Holy Cross in a Patriot League game yesterday. Munoz scored eight of his 14 points in overtime. Dudzinski had 19 points and Justin Burrell nine assists for Holy Cross.
STORRS, Conn. (AP) — Number 3 Connecticut will host Number 1 Baylor in college women's basketball tonight at the XL Center. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2. In Connecticut's last Big Monday showdown, the Huskies beat Number 4 Duke by 30 points.
NEWTOWN, Conn. (AP) — The Boston Bruins plan to become the latest ambassadors from the world of sports to visit Newtown in the wake of the December massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The Bruins have a series of events in town today, including a street-hockey clinic, a clinic with the high school's hockey team, an autograph session with children and a meeting with first responders, who will be given autographed and framed jerseys.
