Patrick Kane and Andrew Shaw lit the lamp for the Blackhawks in the shootout. Marian Hossa scored twice before exiting the game after Vancouver winger Jannik Hansen hit him in the back of the head.
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Antti Niemi made 25 saves last night to lead the San Jose Sharks past the St. Louis Blues 2-1. Joe Thornton and Tim Kennedy scored for the Sharks, who snapped a seven-game winless streak. Patrik Berglund netted the Blues only goal.
MESA, Ariz. (AP) — Chicago Cubs starter Matt Garza is expected to miss one week with a side muscle injury. Garza was hurt Sunday while throwing live batting practice. He underwent an MRI on Monday, which revealed a "mild strain" in his side.
