CHICAGO (AP) — Brent Seabrook and Jonathan Toews each had a goal and an assist in the Chicago Blackhawks' 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings yesterday. Patrick Sharp also scored for the Blackhawks, who extended their season-opening points streak to 15 games. Mike Richards had two power-play goals in the third period for the Kings.
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — T.J. Oshie and Andy McDonald each scored in regulation and in the shootout last night to help the St. Louis Blues beat the Vancouver Canucks 4-3. Patrik Berglund also netted a goal for the Blues, who swept its three-game road swing. St. Louis goalie Jake Allen made 28 saves.
EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) — D.J. Richardson scored 18 points last night to lead Illinois past Northwestern 62-41. Tracy Abrams added 13 points off the bench for the Illini, who have won four straight. Reggie Hearn led the Wildcats with 11 points.
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Chicago White Sox slugger Paul Konerko isn't making plans beyond his 15th season with the club. The 36-year-old Konerko says he has considered life after baseball and he's "not afraid of that." Konerko has 422 career home runs, 415 with the White Sox, and he's approaching several team records held by Frank Thomas.
