Wings pick Ferraro, Tatar in NHL draft

DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit Red Wings selected forwards Landon Ferraro and Tomas Tatar in the second round of the NHL draft.

Detroit took Ferraro on Saturday with the 32nd overall pick and Tatar with the 60th. The Red Wings on Friday traded the 29th overall pick to the Tampa Bay Lightning for the 32nd and 75th (third round) overall picks.

The Wings took forward Andrej Nestrasil with the 75th pick and defenseman Gleason Fournier with the 90th (third round). They took defenseman Nick Jensen with the 150th (fifth round) and right wing Mitchell Callahan with the 180th (sixth round).

The Wings previously have had success drafting high-end talent in the lower rounds, including Nicklas Lidstrom, Pavel Datsyuk, Henrik Zetterberg, Tomas Holmstrom, Johan Franzen and Jonathan Ericsson.
