NFL scouts visit CMU, GVSU

Kept an eye on Eric Fisher, Charles Johnson

ALLENDALE, Mich. (WOOD) - Scouts flocked to Michigan this week to see if players from a number of college have what it takes to play in the NFL.

Some scouts started the day at Central Michigan and then made the trip to Grand Valley State University.

Most of the scouts came to get another look at Central Michigan offensive lineman Eric Fisher. The Lions sent three scouts to Mount Pleasant to watch him work out.  Fisher, who impressed at the NFL combine, projected to be a top 10 pick in the upcoming draft.

Fisher did a number of position drills for the scouts, but chose to let his combine numbers stand.

GVSU wide receiver Charles Johnson put on quite a display for the scouts. His 40-yard sprint was clocked at 4.35 seconds and 4.38 seconds by two separate stopwatches. That would put him in the top five at the NFL combine.

He also posted a 39.5-inch vertical jump and an 11-foot-1 broad jump.

The three test together put him among the best at the combine and should help his stock for the NFL draft, which runs April 25 to April 27.

Scouts will visit Western Michigan Tuesday, Michigan State on Wednesday, and Michigan on Thursday.
