KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - The CCHA has turned into a two team race. Both of them battled tonight at Lawson Ice Arena on the campus of Western Michigan University. The Broncos shutout Miami of Ohio, 2-0, for the win.
The win moves the Broncos to first place in the CCHA standings. Just two points ahead of Miami.
Jordan Oesterle scored the game winning goal 3:31 seconds into the first period and Chase Balisy added a power play goal in the third to provide the only offense needed.
Frank Slubowski stopped all 29 shots he faced for his 18th win of the year. The team now improves to 18-6-5.
Western Michigan and Miami (OH) play again Saturday, February 9th, at Lawson Ice Arena. It's a 7:05 p.m. start.
