Spirits soar at Sweet 16

PHOENIX (WOOD) - Draymond Green will likely be one of the Spartans that brings Michigan State fans to their feet during the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament in Phoenix. But so will Auston McMurray and Taylor Young.

McMurray, an Ottawa Hills graduate, is the pep band's drummer, while Young is one of the cheerleaders for the team.

She made national headlines in November when she fell face-first on the floor in a routine during the Florida State game. Young, a Reeths-Puffer High School graduate, smiled and stuck both thumbs up when the crowd cheered after she was lifted onto a stretcher.

Now, she told 24 Hour News 8, "I'm having the best time I'll ever have in my life."

McMurray played at a pep rally at 7 p.m. Wednesday, then again at 5 a.m. Thursday. He'll be at it again during the game against Louisville.

Win or lose, McMurray and Youngn will use their talents to provide spirit to Spartan Nation, because just like Draymond Green, they live for these moments.
