DETROIT, Mich. (WOOD) - The families of two West Michigan police officers killed in the line of duty played a special part in Thursday night's Tigers game at Comerica Park.

The game's theme was honoring law enforcement. Family members of  fallen officers Trevor Slot from Walker and Eric Zapata from Kalamazoo got a chance to stand on the diamond and be recognized.

The deputy chief from Walker was there and stressed the importance of the night.

"It's extremely important to honor and recognize our fallen officers," said Deputy Chief Greg Long. "So it's very fitting that we have this opportunity to take the time out and acknowledge their service."

The Tigers are donating $10 from each ticket sold to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.
