HOLLAND, Mich. (AP) - The Fennville High boys basketball team erased a 10-point deficit to win a district championship and its third consecutive playoff game since the death of star player Wes Leonard.
The Blackhawks beat Covert, 51-48 on Friday night to earn a Class C district title.
Fennville now has a perfect 23-0 record.
It was the third game since the death of Leonard, who collapsed shortly after scoring the game-winning basket on March 3.
On Friday at Hope College, DeMarcus McGee hit the second of two free throws to put Fennville up by one with 32.5 seconds remaining.
Reid Sexton made two more foul shots with 16.5 seconds to go, and a desperation 3-pointer by Covert's Michael Smith missed with six seconds remaining.
Fennville's Pete Alfaro had 16 points.
