It's official: Rampage won't come back

Team officials released statement

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - It's official: the Grand Rapids Rampage are gone.

The team sent a letter to the Van Andel Arena and the Convention Arena Authority Friday to officially give up their lease with the arena, and to end any rumors the arena football team would return.

In a statement, Rampage chief operating officer Scott Gorsline said, "Grand Rapids was a great starting point for the early stages of the AFL product."

The Rampage begain in Grand Rapids in 1998 and won the league championship in 2001. But the league and the team struggled financially and suspended operations in 2008.
