Boxer wants fourth Golden Gloves title

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Jordan Shimmell will go after his fourth consecutive Michigan Golden Gloves state title this weekend.

If he earned the win, four in a row would set a new precedent. Shimmell competes as a heavyweight.

But this weekend's event isn't Shimmell's only motivation. He hopes to make the Olympic team and travel to the London Games in 2012.

The Golden Gloves competition will take place at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Grand Valley Armory, 1200 44th St.
