Hundreds gather for pillow pummeling

A massive fight downtown today -- but not the kind you're probably thinking of.

Hundreds of people gathered at Rosa Parks Circle for a massive pillow fight early Sunday afternoon.

The pugnacious pillow pummelers gathered for the lighthearted event just after two o'clock.

The event was primarily organized using facebook.com, and was intended to liven up downtown on a sleepy Sunday.

Organizers said the downtown business alliance helped with the event.

The turnout was about what was expected, and several students from Cornerstone University raved about how fun it was.

There weren't any official teams, or a specific winner.

"I guess everyone wins if you're having fun, so I guess that works," said event organizer Rob Bliss.

Bliss said he plans to use this as a template for future events downtown, which he hopes to help set up about once a month.
