GRANT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Organizers say the attendance at this summer's Rothbury music festival rose about 30 percent from last year's debut event, encouraging them to plan for future concerts.
Madison House Publicity says more than 35,000 people went to the
four-day festival at the Double JJ Resort over the Fourth of July
weekend. That's at least 8,000 people more than the inaugural event
attracted in 2008.
The resort is near the village of Rothbury in Oceana County's Grant Township, about 50 miles northwest of Grand Rapids.
The Muskegon Chronicle reports that festival producers and the resort's new owner, Progressive Resorts LLC, are working on a long-term contract for concerts in 2010 and beyond.
This year's event featured The Dead, Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson.
