First, I would like to begin by stating three words which I have uttered at least 1,000 throughout my experience here at Rothbury 2009: I'M NOT WORTHY.

As an intern at 24 Hour News 8, it is so exciting to have been asked to cover such an amazing festival.

For those who cannot be here, I hope that you are able to live vicariously through me. Rothbury 2009 is an experience which cannot be described as anything but amazing.

If you have any questions, or want me to cover anything, PLEASE let me know through my twitter or my email at shielw@gmail.com.

This week, I have the distinct pleasure to cover most of the techno, electronica, and trance shows here at Rothbury.

I will try my best this weekend to do justice as a pseudo concert reporter, offering reviews and posting concert video interviews with some very excited fans.

But, before I begin, I must tell two things to you, the reader:

No. 1 - I am in no way thoroughly educated in the techno/electronica/trance scene. I am just a fan.

No. 2 - My reviews are from my personal experience at each show. I will do my best to give fair reviews. If you weren't able to be here, I hope that you can live vicariously though me and the rest of the WOOD TV8 crew at Rothbury.

I truly hope that you enjoy our reviews, and I hope that this may bring you a little closer to the magic that is Rothbury 2009!

Now, onto my review of Future Rock

Strobe lights, synthesizers, and thousands of glow sticks are all words that describe the atmosphere at Thursday's Future Rock show at the Tripolee stage.

Oh, and not to mention the hundreds of people around me who seemed to have lost their ..."inhibitions?" hours prior to the show, demonstrating some very unique dance moves.

The show's energy could be felt not only by the concertgoers, but evidently, also passersby who stopped in for a quick rave session before venturing toward Sherwood Court, another stage.

My guess is, they stopped in to get a good seat for the much-anticipated Cold War Kids show happening just one hour later.

As someone who has heard only a few Future Rock songs, I must confess:
Where have I been?

This electric rock trio hailing from Chicago left me and the Rothbury audience dumbfounded. (For me, minus the substance).

Frontman Felix Moeno on bass and synthesizer kept the audience grooving and on their feet, jumping around stage and performing like a true rock frontman.

It was evident that he was excited to be performing at such an amazing venue.

Tripolee, where most of the techno, electronic, and trance shows take place, boasts a canopy dance/shade area in the middle, fit with black lights and fog machines.

Although I was front row and center, I could see many who had seemed to have lost their inhibitions dancing. They looked like they were having the time of their lives under the canopy.

Although they may not have been coherent, they sure looked like it during Future Rock's performance, which lasted about an one hour, 15 minutes.

This genre of music, classified as electronica, fuses elements of what seemed to be a mix of progressive and dance rock.

What made me appreciate this band's Rothbury performance was not only their mix of genres, but their use of live layering and synthesizers.

For somebody who only knows the basics of audio editing, the beats and laying presented by Future Rock blew my mind.

Future Rock encompasses what a true live electronic performance should be. Awesome stage presence, a killer light show and thousands of die-hard fans made this show one for the books.
