KENT COUNTY, Mich. (WOOD) - Kent County Road crews were especially busy Sunday.
Tim Dougherty works for the road commission, and he and other plow drivers across West Michigan said keeping roads clear today was an uphill battle.
"The snow, it's not sticking at all," he said. "So it's cold, the snow is fluffy, so it's blowing so easy."
The more the wind howls, the tougher their job becomes.
"It's the poor visibility and constant drifiting," Dougherty said. "I don't think we've gotten all that much snow but it got to the position that the roads conditions constantly stay poor."
Many West Michigan residents just cleaned up the mess Mother Nature dumped on us Friday. Now, a new challenge with heavy snow, high winds, and constant drifting. Later in the week, even more snow is in the forecast for Tuesday.
Dougherty had some pointers for motorists: Give plow trucks plenty of room -- you'll make it easier on yourself and easier for them to help make your commute safe.
"Just be patient, give us a little room, and that makes our jobs so much easier and safer," Dougherty said.
The Kent County Road Commission said they plan to be fully
staffed and will stay on the roads continuously until this storm
winds down.
