GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) -
Jury selection began Wednesday in the trial of Tim Dawson, accused of murdering his wife Julia four years ago.
Though he's been the only suspect since the case began, he was arrested for the crime earlier this year at his new home in Texas.
Dawson appeared noticeably thinner than at his arraignment.
Judge James Redford said they'll seat 15 jurors, including three alternates, to hear the case against Dawson. There are about 125 people on the witness list, from friends and family to detectives and even Jeffrey VanVels, the man convicted of shooting and killing Grand Rapids police officer Bob Kozminski in 2007.
Not all of those witnesses will testify. The judge said a jury should be chosen by the end of Wednesday, with opening statements tentatively set for Thursday.
Judge Redford said the trial should be wrapped up by November 5, and may be in the jury's hands as early as October 29.
24 Hour News 8 will continue to follow this trial.
