GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A line of strong thunderstorms pushed through West Michigan early Tuesday morning.
Several West Michigan counties were under Severe Thunderstorm Warnings.
There are numerous reports of trees and utility lines down across the area, some blocking roads, as wind gusts reached between 30 and 45 miles per hour.
More than 71,000 Consumers Energy customers in Michigan were without power at the peak of the storms. As of 9:30 p.m. Tuesday there are 5,000 customers still affected --
--Allegan: 2,633
--Newaygo: 2,178
Restoration will be completed throughout the day.
As of 11 a.m., only 200 Midwest Energy Cooperative customers , primarily in Lawton are without power.
As of 2 p.m., 800 Great Lakes Energy customers in Newaygo and Mecosta counties were without power. The company said it had already restored power to 8,800 customers.
