GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Vice President Joe Biden will visit West Michigan early next week, sources told 24 Hour News 8.

The White House has not yet been able to confirm any information.

Biden's itinerary isn't yet available.

President Barack Obama will also be in Michigan this week as part of the kickoff of his 2012 presidential campaign.

Obama will visit Detroit and the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.

Michigan is shaping up to be an important battleground in both the Republican primary and the general election.

The Michigan Republican primary election is Feb. 28.
