GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - By a narrow margin, voters oppose Proposals 2 and 6 -- guaranteeing collective bargaining rights and requiring statewide votes to build bridges, respectively -- a new EPIC-MRA poll shows.
The poll of 600 active and likely voters was conducted between October 26-29 for WOOD TV8 and our media partners. It has a cell phone participation rate of 20% and a margin of error of 4%.
Proposal 2 would amend the Michigan constitution to guarantee collective bargaining rights for public and private employees, remove restrictions on what could be included in a collective bargaining agreement and prohibit the enactment of new restrictions by the Legislature if they conflict with collective bargaining agreements.
Of the respondents, 46% said they would vote no, 42% yes and 10% are undecided. Only 2% of respondents said they would not vote on this proposal.
Proposal 6 would amend the Michigan constitution to require the approval of a majority of voters at a statewide election, and in each municipality where new international bridges or tunnels for motor vehicles are to be located, before the State of Michigan may spend any state funds or resources to build any new international bridge or tunnel.
Of the respondents, 47% said they would vote no, 42% yes with 8% undecided. Only 3% of the respondents said they would not vote on this proposal.
