GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Never-before-released photographs from Life photographer Ralph Morse document Albert Einstein's office on the day he died 55 years ago.

When Einstein died in Princeton, New Jersey on April 18, 1955, Morse used a case of Scotch to gain access to the physicist's office, the hospital and a cemetery - where he learned Einstein would be cremated.

A Life editor received a call from Einstein's son asking the photos not be printed. Life honored that request - until now.
