Possible tornado hits northwest Indiana

Homes were severely damaged

Strong storms hit extreme southwest Michigan and northwest Indiana Wednesday night, possibly even spawning a tornado in Chesterton, Ind., WNDU reports.

St. Joseph County sounded the severe weather sirens at around 8:15 p.m., and Kosciusko County was placed under a tornado warning about an hour later.

Chesterton police told WNDU a tornado touched down in several spots in that area. Homes were severely damaged, and trees and power lines were downed.
