YORK, Pa. (AP) — A fiery chain reaction crash that happened after a mattress fell off a vehicle onto a Pennsylvania highway has left one driver dead and two others injured.

State police say the three-truck crash occurred Thursday afternoon on Interstate 83 in Manchester Township in York County.

Two service trucks from a Dillsburg petroleum company slowed down because of the mattress. A tractor-trailer slammed into the second service truck from behind, sending it smashing into the first service truck and causing a fire.

Police say the accident killed the second service truck's driver, Dillsburg resident Brian Jacobs.

The tractor-trailer driver is a man from Maine. The driver of the first service truck is a man from Lewisberry. They've been hospitalized.

Police say the driver of the vehicle that lost the mattress stopped and is cooperating with investigators.
